We still conflate the fieldID, the position in the
array of fields, and whether or not that means the
field is mandatory. But this attempts to clean up
*some* of that, without introducing too much risk.
Currently, the human-readable component class is shown in the info
bar. For multiple component classes, this means that not all will
be readable. Showing the formal ordered string in the properties
panel mitigates this issue.
Make the VIEW* parameter const. Since PCB_TEXT does a null-check,
it's not very clear if this can ever be null (and if it is,
why don't the other VIEW_ITEMs check?), so don't make them
all references too at this time.
Also dereference a few pointers a bit earlier to make non-null
promises sooner rather than later.
Saves a mishmash of local HIDE/SHOW defs along with various literals.
Also provide a function that computes the scale at which a given
IU size becomes (notionally) a certain size on screen. While this
is a simple division, it's a bit opaque in terms of meaning.
Also it means the divide by zero case can be more universally
defended-against, which has traditionally been a bug opportunity.
Recommendation is to avoid using the year nomenclature as this
information is already encoded in the git repo. Avoids needing to
repeatly update.
Also updates AUTHORS.txt from current repo with contributor names
Items that are part of net ties (pads and copper shapes that connect to
them) should allow connections from any net in the tie. This prevents
clearance errors from being generated for matched nets

This field was redundant (was generally set to the footprint's LIB_ID)
but also buggy (not guaranteed to contain the footprint's LIB_ID)
and confusing (not a way to change the footprint's LIB_ID).
- Moves functionality to FOOTPRINT class from BOARD_ITEM
- Renames DRC property from ComponentClass to Component_Class
- Adds DRC checks QA for A.Component_Class and a.hasComponentClass('x')
CHANGED: PCB file format now supports saving/loading complex padstacks
CHANGED: PTH pads are now rendered per copper layer in the copper color;
the PTH pad color is no longer used.
ADDED: support for importing complex pad stacks from Altium PCBs
Enforce padstack-aware access to pad properties across KiCad

- Adds Component Class field to SCH_DIRECTIVE_LABEL
- Adds SCH_SYMBOLs to SCH_RULE_AREA item lists
- SCH_SYMBOLs resolve Component Class directives
- Netlist exporter / importer handles Component Class names
- Adds DRC expressions and functions
- Adds QA check for component class netlist export
There was a gentle mish-mash of booleans, some with
true being left/right and some up/down, and some functions that
can flip in both axes (which is never actually done, and doesn't
really make geometric sense).
Replace all this with the FLIP_DIRECTION enum class, which makes
the intention completely unambiguous.
This also then allows a small scattering of simplifications,
because everything takes the same type and you don't have to
fiddle booleans to fit.
This commit modify the order of end points of flipped graphic lines, and
create a DRC issue for flipped footprints (if flipped before this commit).
For segments inside a footprint, the "old" way to flip a segment is now
reused.
Expecting this ugly fix is only temporary.
Schematics, symbols, boards and footprints all get the ability to store
files inside their file structures. File lookups now have a
kicad-embed:// URI to allow various parts of KiCad to refer to files
stored in this manner.
kicad-embed://datasheet.pdf references the file named "datasheet.pdf"
embedded in the document. Embeds are allowed in schematics, boards,
symbols and footprints. Currently supported embeddings are Datasheets,
3D Models and drawingsheets

We convert arcs/circles to polygons with an allowable error. This means
that the segments might end up being closer than we expect and we should
allow for this deviation when checking courtyards

We are derived from std::vector now. We don't need our own prima donna
increment and dereference overload as these just create bloat and
non-standard coding practices
The DRC annular ring width test failed to take into account that a pad
could be contained inside another pad having the same number (thermal
vias for example) which changes the effective annular width of the pad
contained within another pad. A test was added to calculate the effective
annular ring width in this case.
Added some PNS log viewer helper and test code to the PNS playground QA
utility for testing the effective pad annular width code.
